♥ LUSH Halloween Haul 2016!

September 27, 2016

I was so excited for this range to come out, I barely slept the night before! I went to sleep dreaming of all the amazing baths I was going to have and worrying that the products would be sold out by the time I managed to get on my dinner and run to LUSH to grab everything! I was so happy when I got there to see that there was still loads of everything left, I've never been so relieved! I guess that's the best thing about living in a smaller city, if I was in a bigger city there would be loads of people rushing to get into LUSH too. The LUSH in my city is tiny! It's probably the smallest LUSH I've ever visited! I have no idea how they're going to be able to stock all the Christmas products and the Halloween range and the regular line! I feel that there's going to be a few things that won't be available for a while, but I don't mind!

I was only planning on buying one of everything, as I was told about a month ago that I was losing my job and we wouldn't be extended past the end of September. To my delight, we were told the day before the LUSH Halloween release that they had changed their mind and decided to keep us until the end of November! Yay! This means I can save more so I can be more financially stable if my plans for a new job fall through and I can afford to treat myself at LUSH when the new ranges are released.

So I thought I would share with you all the new products and what I think of them. This may be a little later than expected, as I want to use all the products and show you how they act in the bath. Plus, it's a perfect excuse for me to have more baths than normal! I am not complaining! So lets start!

Pictured: Monsters Ball bath bomb

This was one of the bombs that I was most excited about! This bomb carries the scent of Calacas, a very loved scent that is available in a shower gel and shower jelly format. I am new to this scent, as I only purchased a bottle of the shower gel from the kitchen a few weeks ago. I planned to get the jelly but with the whole losing my job thing I was on an extreme budget, therefore I missed out - sad face! There is also a bath bomb called The Enchanter that caries this scent which I have never had the pleasure of using, but it is definitely on my 'I DESPERATELY NEED TO TRY!' list. Monsters Ball carries the scent extremely well. I've never smelt such a perfect transformation of scent. Normally when LUSH have say a shower gel and try to create a bomb or bubble bar using the same scent, you can normally smell a difference, even if it is very slightly. This is a perfect transformation. While I was wrapping all my bombs for storage, all I could smell was this bomb over the multiple different scents, so I was super excited to use this one and just had to try it out first. This bomb does not disappoint. It doesn't fizz too fast, but not too slow either. The colour pay off is unbelievable. It's like a brighter, more vibrant version of Twilight. The eye of the little monster is also a bath oil, therefore you get two products in one! The eye creepily floats around in the water until all the bomb has fizzed away.  I used this bomb with, quite obviously, my Calacas shower gel. I could smell the scent on my skin for hours after my bath, which is unusual for me so I was pleasantly surprised. I also didn't need to moisturise once I got out the bath as my skin felt so amazing! I would really recommend grabbing a couple of these as I think once people have tried them out, they're going to run off the shelves!

Pictured: Pumpkin bath bomb

I wasn't sure whether I was going to like this bomb as I think I may be the only person in the whole entire world who hasn't actually smelt anything pumpkin scented. I mean, I've carved actual pumpkins, but I can't imagine that anything 'pumpkin scented' would actually smell like that! Surprisingly to me, I don't smell anything that I expected. This bomb smells quite sherbet-citrus to me, and I really like it! The ingredients contain vanilla absolute and pimento berry oil. Honestly, this bomb couldn't smell any better! It smells so fresh, it would be a great one to use first thing in the morning to get you ready for the day! I was a little disappointed with this when I put it in the bath. I was expecting there to be many different shades of orange or a stream of lustre inside, but it was just basically two shades of orange. I had to play with the colour to make bath art. I like bombs like Intergalactic where there are multiple shades and each bath bomb is different and creates a new bath every time and I didn't get that from this bomb. I was also disappointed that this was a sinker! I hate bath bombs that just drop to the bottom of the bath, so for me to get the colour pay off, I had to hold the bomb. The scent was lovely and fresh, but I don't think I'd be too fussed if this didn't come back next year.

Pictured: Sparky Pumpkin bubble bar

If you've bought from LUSH at Halloween for the past couple of years, you will be well aware of this little glitter bug. Sparkly Pumpkin is a come back, it has been available for the past few years at Halloween and is a great seller. However, this year the bubble bar has some slight changes. I swear it is about half the size of what it was last year. It is tiny now! I could swear it used to be so much bigger, not like The Comforter size, but about half that size - sad face! I wish I had one from last year to compare! Other changes with this product is that this year, it doesn't have half the amount of lustre that the bubble bar has had in previous years. I don't think this is a bad thing. I think lustre sometimes puts people off purchasing the product as it can be messy to store and use. Plus this means I won't have to spend forever removing glitter from the bottom of the drained bath after I've used this product. LUSH have also added a lot more colour pigment this year, meaning that this bubble bar will make the bath a lot more of a vibrant orange than it used to. Which it definitely did! I tried to cut this bar into four, but this is quite a stiff bubble bar, so it split into two straight away. I grated this down into my sieve like I do with all my bubble bars and sat it under neath running water. The scent of this is the same, a really lovely woody scent. The colour pay off was great and considering I only used half the bar, which is a small amount considering this is a small bubble bar, I was surprised by the amount of bubbles I received. I think Sparkly Pumpkin will be around for many Halloweens to come!

Pictured: Autumn Leaf bath bomb

This is a stunning bath bomb. The colours go together so well and the design is just gorgeous. I can imagine that a lot of these will get broken in transit, as any bath bomb that is flat in oppose to ball shaped doesn't tend to stay that shape for a while. I've had this experience with Superdad, I wouldn't recommend storing this bomb as it's just going to end up in your dust jar! This bomb carries the Grass scent, which is extremely popular. Grass was a shower gel that was discontinued. You can purchase the Grass bubble bar all year round if you fall in love with this scent. The scent is very earthy and fresh. Like being in a field in the middle of summer when the grass has just been cut. It reminds me of making daisy chains as a child on the school field in my little blue summer dress. I like the scent of this, out of the bath and in the bath, but I can't help but be a little disappointed in this bomb. It had all the potential to be gorgeous, but it just wasn't. Part of the bomb fizzed too fast and the other part fizzed too slow, meaning that the colours spread and didn't meet by themselves. I had to push the colours together to get a decent photo.

Pictured: Boo bath melt

I wasn't too sure what to list this item as, as I have heard that not only is this a bath melt, this is also a bubble bar. How exciting! This is probably the cutest product that LUSH have released this Halloween. Just look at his little face! This product is part of the Ginger family, which is a scent family that I haven't experienced. The LUSH kitchen have a few items in this scent family, like Ginger shower gel and body lotion and Lemon Days and Ginger Beer bath bomb, which have all been available to purchase recently. I think this will be an acquired taste, as this is definitely one of the more complicated scents that LUSH have. I don't love it, but I don't find it offensive either. This bubble bar/bath melt definitely made some bubbles! I really don't love the smell, but it's bearable. The scent gets a lot stronger when Boo is dramatically melting away under the running tap. The water was smooth, as you would expect with a bath melt and the bubbles were just right!

Pictured: Lord of Misrule bath bomb

I knew they would bring this little baby back! I am so happy to get my hands of a few fresh LOM's. This is one of the nicest bath bombs ever! Although, the scent is a little hard to describe. The ingredients are black pepper and vanilla absolute with patchouli oil. I can definitely smell the vanilla, but I think the combination of black pepper and patchouli is what makes the scent hard to describe. It just smells amazing okay! Believe me! Go and buy one and fall in love with it! One of the things that I love about the LOM bath bomb is that yes, it is a green bomb, but I really like that it's speckled. That may be weird and it doesn't really make a difference to the bomb, I just really like it! The green on the outside fizzes away to reveal a gorgeous wine colour inside. This bomb is really moisturising in the bath and used with another particular product (hint: see below!) you smell amazing when you leave the water. I'm glad that LUSH haven't reformulated this bomb, like they have some of the others that are coming with the Christmas release, but I think if they had they would have had a lot of unhappy lushies as this bomb is perfect the way it is.  I will definitely be picking up some of these in the Boxing Day sales, as I need plenty to get me through the year!

Pictured: Lord of Misrule shower cream

I got a little 100g bottle of this in a gift set from the Boxing Day sales last year. It sat in the back of my LUSH collection for a little while until I came across it again and thought I may as well use it. Then I realised what I had been missing out on! As a rule, I prefer shower gels to shower creams as they create such a better lather and seem to stretch further, but I don't think this scent would come across as well in a gel. This shower cream is one of the nicest and most moisturising bath products I think I have ever used. As we all know, I also like to use my shower creams/gels to wash my hair and this one doesn't fail me! I've been savoring that tiny little bottle all year and I only buy 250g bottles of shower gels that I really love (unless I'm buying from the Kitchen as you have no other option) so I had to purchase this in a 250g bottle to do me the rest of the year so I can use as much as I like and not have to worry about how many months I'll have to live without it if I use it all up. If you're lucky enough to live near London, the Oxford Street store has this product all year round, you lucky little worms!

Pictured: Goth Fairy shimmer bar

Before I start with this product, I want to apologise for the horrific images of my hands. I was attempting to show you the shimmer in this product but as you can see, it's hard do this as an image, so I had to really play with the contrast to enable you to see it. Anyway, I was both happy and disappointed with this product. This is probably one the products I was most excited for, purely for the scent. When the leak happened a few weeks ago, I thought this was going to be Comforter scented and I was all over that! Then when the LUSH Creative Showcase happened, and the LUSH Connect app came out, the description stated that this was Space Girl scented, which made this product 10 times better! Space Girl is a bath bomb that was discontinued last year. I was extremely unhappy that Space Girl was gone as this was one of the first bath bombs I ever used and I totally fell in love with it. The scent, the colour and even the price was just perfect. So to have a little bit of Space Girl in my life was sounding good. My issue isn't with the scent, To me, if The Comforter and Space Girl got together and had a little fun, Goth Girl would be the end result. It really is a mixture of both the scents and it works. The shimmer pay off is good too, I like to use this on a night so that when I wake up in the morning, I don't look like a human disco ball but I still have the moisture and scent of the bar. My issue with this product is price for the size. To me, a shimmer bar is basically a massage bar but with a lot of lustre to give you that shimmery look to your skin. Most massage bars range from just below £5 to just under £7. This bar is £5.50 and no joke, it is tiny! I was expecting this to be bigger than it is and for the price I think it's a bit of a rip off for 30g. Unless you are a huge fan of The Comforter or you're a long time lushie and you miss Space Girl, I wouldn't recommend buying it. It's not that I don't like the product, I just don't think you get enough for the money.

Pictured: Fireside soap
I intended to just ask for samples of both the new soaps that were released for Halloween this year, but once you enter into the world of a LUSH store, that budget and plan you had in your head goes totally out of the window. I ended up purchasing a block that was already cut, which saddened me as I really wanted a slice with a flame in it - sad face. However, I was pleasantly suprised with the scent of this bar. As it's called Fireside, you expect a smoky scent and that you do get. But the undertones of vanilla and clove really come through. This soap smells like sitting beside a campfire, roasting marshmallows to make smores. I like it! This will make a really good autumnal soap to have in the dish, although none of my soaps live in the soap dish as they will be gone before I know it! I wouldn't say that this one is an easy gift to give, as it does have a really special scent that some may like and others may not, but I would definitely grab a sample if you're in store! This soap lathered up well, but it took a little while to get a good lather. The thing I didn't like about this soap was the dried chestnuts. I get that it adds to the soap, but I cut a slice off my chunk as I don't plan to use it all at once, which I know other lushies also do, and after using it to wash it started to crumble. Maybe it's because I cut a thin slice, so I don't recommend doing that! After you've washed and got out the bath, the scent does stay on your skin, but it's changed. The scent now smells like a mens aftershave, like that typical mens aftershave scent. It's nice, really nice. I feel like Reece would enjoy this one so I'll have to cut him a chunk to use when he's next over here!

Pictured: Magic Wand soap
This product is not to be confused with Magic Wand bubble bar, as that product is a super pink and sparkly Snow Fairy scented Christmas exclusive. If anything, this scent is the polar opposite to Snow Fairy. Magic Wand has ingredients such as tangerine oil and pomegranate molasses, so this scent is very different to the bubble bar which carries the same name. This soap reminds me of the first gift set I ever bought myself, which was the mini Snow Fairy set back in 2013. This set included a little star shaped Angels Delight soap. This soap takes me right back to the exact bath where I used Snow Fairy and Angels Delight for the very first time. And checking the LUSH Connect app, it's just told me that it does share the same scent! I am so happy I bought a huge chunk of this soap now, as it reminds me how far LUSH has came since I first started buying and it also reminds me of how little I knew about LUSH and all the great things that LUSH as a company has achieved. That first little set holds a special place in my heart, as will this soap now

I think this is the best LUSH Halloween we have had in a long time! I really hope the new products make their way back next year! I would really recommend you take a trip into your local store and give all these amazing products a sniff and treat yourself! This release has got me super excited for the Christmas collection to make its way into store.

LUSH Halloween gets a huge..
