♥ April Visit

April 27, 2017

I hadn't seen Reece since January. That is a hell of a long time to go without seeing your boyfriend. This isn't even normal for us. We normally only go a couple of months, three at the maximum really without seeing each other. But with Easter falling late this year and Reece being in his last year at college, we had to wait out the four months for him to come over to stay with me for my 'birthday' - my birthday is the 10th of March!

I had so much planned for us to do, but Reece ended up changing his flight and coming a few days later as he fell ill right before he was supposed to fly with a viral infection. I'm glad I didn't book anything! We ended up tagging along with my parents on a day out to the Lake District. I live in the very north of England, so north I could probably walk to Scotland. My city is the border city and I live right on the edge of the Lake District. I don't appreciate how beautiful it really is. I blame my parents for this as a punishment when I was a kid was being dragged around the Lakes as a young teen and having no option to stay at home. Reece lives at a beach, so there's nothing in Carlisle that can be any prettier than where he lives, so I thought the next best thing had to be the Lake District.

First, we went to Ambleside because one of my favourite shops is there, The Rock Shop. Here you can buy all kinds of semi precious stones, gems and the latest craze of Salt Rock. I have a few pieces from here, but I really wanted to show Reece what the store is like and what some of the huge crystals that I could only ever dream of owning look like. We wandered around the town and popped into a few little shops and then took a walk down to the lake.

Then we went on to Bowness on Windermere as it's very close by and just as lovely as Ambleside. We took a walk right down the lake and took a peek at all the docked boats and yachts. We also found a piano outside of a cafe that said 'Play Me,' so Reece being the musical man that he is, could not resist!

My stepdad then stopped the car at Kirkston Pass on our way home so we could get out and take some photos. There was one lonely sheep who wasn't bothered at our presence at all and happily chewed on the grass while we snapped some photos. The view from all the way up there was amazing and photos do it no justice!

We then stopped at Derwent Water, another lake that we passed on our way home. I have vague memories of stopping here years ago with an old friend of mine on one of those dreaded, 'You will come to the Lake District with us,' days.

This was one full packed day and we were both shattered by the time we got home. I'm off to see Reece in less than two weeks for his birthday, so I'll be sure to snap plenty of photos of Northern Ireland and share them with you all.
