♥ My Disney Traditions Collection!

April 15, 2018

I had seen these gorgeous ornaments in shops for years and totally adored them! I believe there are two shops in my city that sell them, but I would always see them in my local Clintons. I thought they were so gorgeous, I loved how they weren't 'perfect' ornaments as they had a carved effect to them. I thought they would look so pretty in a nursery, so thought I would maybe start collecting them when I had a child and would put a bookcase in their room with all these stunning ornaments there, to grow a collection for them, looks like I started growing that collection very early! Most of these gorgeous ornaments have been gifted to me from friends and family for Christmas and my birthday, and seeing as I received my first Disney Tradition for Christmas 2017, I can already see this collection growing super fast!

These ornaments are from a collection called Disney Traditions, which is a licensed collection by Disney themselves, but all the ornaments are created by a very talented artist named Jim Shore. Jim also creates his own original pieces, so if you like the design and style of the ornaments I am about to show you, but you're maybe not so much a fan of Disney, you can check out his original products too.

Pictured - 'A Mothers Love' (Mrs Potts and Chip from Beauty and the Beast)
This is the first Disney Tradition I was ever gifted, and I was very kindly gifted this by my boyfriends parents as a Christmas gift in 2017. I really couldn't believe it when I opened the wrapping paper and saw this gorgeous ornament! Reece knew that I had the little purses from Primark when they were released and I wasn't using them, they were placed like ornaments on my shelf. He suggested to his parents that this would make a great gift for me, and he was completely right! I adore this ornament, just as I do the characters, Mrs Potts and Chip! I think the expression on their faces is super cute, the way that Chip is looking up at Mrs Potts and they're both smiling away at each other. I also love the shades of pink and purple that Jim Shore has used here, really night and bright bold colours that make this ornament stand out from the rest.

Pictured - 'Spring has Sprung' (Thumper from Bambi)
This super cute little bunny was the second Disney Traditions that I was gifted. I was actually given this one and the Mrs Potts and Chip ornament on the same day, I just opened that one first. I was gifted this gorgeous envision of Thumper from my boyfriend, Reece, for Christmas 2017.  I buy everything in sight that is bunny related, so I think Reece knew that once I started properly looking into these ornaments after receiving one as a gift from his parents, that I would for sure want this one. Thumper is one of my favourite Disney characters, he's so cute and I love how he acts as a sort of mentor to Bambi when he's small. I think most of my favourite characters are the animal sidekicks!

Pictured - Rapunzel from Tangled
I am aware that this is not a Disney Tradition and is actually part of the Disney Showcase collection, but I couldn't not include her in this blog post - she's far too stunning! After Christmas had passed and Reece was over here visiting me for New Year, we took a trip into town and popped into H Samuel to take a look at the Disney Traditions. I saw this Rapunzel and saw that she had a tiny little half of plaque in front of her, taking her price down to only £27, and I knew right then I wanted to have her! Aside from the lady at H Samuel trying to charge me full price, their customer service being disgusting due to the huffing and puffing at me explaining that it stated that this ornament was in the sale and having to hear about the other employees discussion about the night out they had had the night before whilst they all looked like they'd been dragged through a hedge backwards, myself and Reece finally left the shop with my Rapunzel and swore I'd never shop in that store again. Aside from the nightmare of trying to purchase her, she is such a stunning ornament! I love the attention to detail in her hair and on her dress. The only thing I don't really like is them gems that have been stuck on her, I feel like it makes the ornament look a little cheaper that it would do were they not there.

Pictured - 'Rainy Day Romance' (Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse)
I genuinely could not believe my luck with this gorgeous ornament! I managed to pick up this gorgeous Minnie and Mickey ornament for £22.50 in a charity shop! In a charity shop! I didn't think I would ever find anything so lovely! I do often have a browse through charity shops, but I usually finds books or DVD's, never something like this and for such a great price! I told Reece I'd seen it and he sent me across the money to get it and he told me to not send the money back and it could be an early birthday present. I was so super happy! There were a few other Disney Traditions in the charity shop also, that I wish I had been able to pick up, but unfortunately these had been sold by the time pay day came around. I had actually shown this ornament to my parents in Clintons and my Mum said she was planning on buying it for my birthday. I love the colours that have been used in this ornament, the pastel shades of blue and purple are just gorgeous!

Pictured - 'Find Your Own Way' (Moana and Pua from Moana)
I think that this Disney Tradition is probably my most favourite, and apart from the initial gifted ornaments, was the most surprising! Reece knows how much I love Moana and that Pua is one of my all time favourite characters (who didn't get enough screenplay in my opinion!) so I was so happy to unwrap this as a birthday present back in March! I wasn't expecting to get any Disney Tradition from Reece, as he had already sent me money to pay for the Rainy Day Romance one I found in the charity shop, but he admitted he completely forgot about that one and knew just how much I loved this one and wanted it. I'm so happy he did! I adore this ornament, I love the detail that has been put into Moana's dress and I love the colouring on the base, but I think my favourite part of the ornament has to be the super cute little Pua she has by her side! Such a happy little piggy with a big smile on his face!

Pictured - Marie from The Aristocats
I had seen this Disney Tradition online a few times before I actually saw it in real life, and I really expected it to be bigger! Of course, as soon as I saw it I still loved it and wanted it as much and the price tag is much more purse friendly than the bigger ones! I bought Marie myself with some birthday money that I was given and I'm very happy I did. With the small collection I have right now, the smaller Disney Traditions make it look a lot less bulky on the shelf. I think this one is gorgeous! Marie is another one of my favourite characters, so sassy! I love the proud pose she is sitting in, the colours on the cushion she's sat on and of course, her super cute signature bows! I think Marie comes in at a close favourite to Moana!

Pictured - Thumper from Bambi
When I went to buy Marie, I initially planned to buy one of the bigger Disney Traditions, but as I just couldn't leave without Marie and therefore didn't spend as much as I would have done, I decided to pick up this little Thumper too! I like how he's a lot different to the larger Thumper that Reece bought me, their ears are posed differently and the patterning on them is different, this makes me feel a lot better due to already having two ornaments of the same character so early on in my collection! But as I said before, I love anything bunny related and Thumper is the bunny, so how could I not buy him? He sits very proudly on my shelf with my larger Thumper and the look so cute together!

Pictured - 'Be Adventurous' (Jasmine from Aladdin)
Jasmine is another Disney Tradition that was gifted to me, but this time from my friend Lauren. I have seen the princess Traditions where they are kneeling down like this and really liked them, so I think this was the perfect gift to kick start me picking the rest up! I really love the colour palette used on Jasmine, the colour of her outfit is perfect and the greens and blues used on the base really match in with my collection. I think she's stunning!

Pictured - 'Purr-fection' (Marie from The Aristocats)
I had had my eye on this version of Marie for a while and I just couldn't pass up bidding on this on eBay when I saw it. I was so surprised that I managed to win this, and especially for only a measly £10.50 including postage - biggest bargain ever! What I wasn't impressed with, was the way it was packaged when it got to me. The seller has wrapped it in a flimsy slither of bubble wrap and then wrapped it in a bin bag. I know the listing said that there was no original box with it, but its an ornament, I would have at least thought they would have put it in a box! She was broken when she got to me, no big deal, just her little bow on the top of her head had snapped off, but luckily I wsa able to fix it with a little big of super glue and now she looks as good as new! I think shes beautiful! The shades of red used on her bows and the pinks used on her heart shaped based are lovely, and compliment each other well!

I can imagine that I will be buying these stunning ornaments for a while now, this collection may take over my LUSH collection, who knows! I am planning on picking up at least one whilst I am in Disneyland, whether that be a big piece or just a small one, I'd like to have at least one that I can say I bought whilst I was there. And I'm sure if I do I'll be sharing it with you in a future blog post!
