♥ LUSH Halloween Haul 2019!

October 13, 2019

Yet again, it has been a while since I’ve posted a blog post. I’ve been so busy with work since we got back from holiday that I literally spend my weekends sleeping and binging Netflix to just relax. I haven’t had much to blog about either, but since buying the Halloween collection from LUSH this year, I’ve been dying to write about all the products.
As always, I visit my LUSH store with a plan to purchase a few products and I end up walking out with way more, so naturally I purchased one of every item from the collection this year. There are a couple of items that I’m not too keen on and there are some that I am really enjoying. When the initial leaks came out, I really wasn’t that excited about the release. Halloween seems to get smaller and smaller every year, and while I appreciate that because it means I have more money to spend on Christmas which is released not long after, I would love it if LUSH would make Halloween a little bit bigger.
I found the pricing to not be too bad this year. I was expecting the bath bombs to be nearing the £7 mark as this seems to be the norm for LUSH nowadays, but I was surprised to see the bombs on the lower price side. I am quite gutted that we haven’t had a gel this year and I’m especially gutted that Ectoplasm isn’t back on the shelves, but let’s talk about the new products and not dwell on the amazing products that never return.

Pictured – Monsters Ball bath bomb
I’m not surprised that this gorgeous bath bomb has came back this year, being a fan favourite. The Calacas scent always goes down well, but I think that apart from the gel, Monsters Ball is the best version of this scent. I also love the bath art that this bomb provides, gorgeous swirls of purple and blue. This year, Monsters Ball seems a lot more vivid than in previous years and I’m excited to try out the one I purchased to see if it’s also brighter in the tub. I will most definitely be grabbing a few to stock up on for a good Calacas bath all year round.

Pictured – Punkin Pumpkin bath bomb
I really didn’t expect to like this bath bomb as much as I do. The scent of Punkin Pumpkin is very nice, I smell the cinnamon leaf oil and Sicilian red mandarin oil the most, which blends the most gorgeous autumnal scent. I was hoping that this would smell like the old Pumpkin bath bomb, but this scent is just as nice. I would love to see this scent in some Christmas products too. I haven’t tried this bomb in the bath yet, but I really can’t wait to! I want to use this bath bomb on a darker night so I can make the most of the spooky glow in the dark eyes and mouth.

Pictured – Lord of Misrule bath bomb
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the day that Lord of Misrule doesn’t come back, it will be a travesty for LUSH. I feel like now, it would be just as bad as them not returning Snow Fairy, it’s become such a staple product and scent for this time of the year. I love the Lord of Misrule scent and this scent in bath bomb format is my ultimate favourite. I find the bomb to be heavier on the vanilla, which makes the scent creamier and less spicy. I really hope this year that this bath bomb lasts longer as I bought a few last year and they were duds really quick.

Pictured – Mercury Retrograde bath bomb
From the moment I saw a photo of this bath bomb, I was dying to use it. I think this is one of the most appealing bath bombs that LUSH have ever released, it captures Halloween perfectly with the colour choices of black, orange, green and purple. The scent of Mercury Retrograde is incredible, a sweet ginger scent which is apparently an older scent from a bubble bar, Gingerbread House, which I never had the chance to try. Sometimes when I sniff this bath bomb, I get the pure ginger and cinnamon, spicy scent and then other times I find a patch which is super sweet and reminds me very much of the Harajuku bath bomb. I’m going to say now that Mercury Retrograde is my favourite item from this years Halloween collection and I will definitely be stocking up.

Pictured – Pumpkin Spice lip scrub
So a fun fact about me is that I have had one Pumpkin Spice Latte in my life and I absolutely hated it. It tasted like I was drinking herbs and grass and it had put me off anything pumpkin flavoured. However, when I visited my local LUSH store and the lovely store manager Chelsey told me to try it, I was really surprised that I liked it. It doesn’t remind me of that awful coffee decision at all, it’s very sweet with a slight spicy element to it, which would be the ginger. If you aren’t a fan of the cult favourite PSL, I would still recommend popping to your local store and dipping a finger into this tub because you might be surprised.

Pictured – Sparkly Pumpkin bubble bar
Every year this little pumpkin comes back and I’m really quite confused how. I really class Sparkly Pumpkin as a mid to low tier LUSH product and I think there are many better products that LUSH could bring back, rather than this over priced bubble bar. I’d have loved to have seen an Ectoplasm bubble bar (or definitely the gel) come back, or even a Calacas bubble bar would be brilliant. However, Sparkly Pumpkin is nice, gives you gorgeous orange water and has plenty of lustre dusted over it, I’m just not overwhelmed by the scent.

Pictured- Bewitched bubble bar
Every year I buy a Bewitched bubble bar and every year I wonder why, because I really don’t like the Sultana scent. I buy this bubble bar purely for the gorgeous water that I get when using it, the black sparkly water is to die for. I love pairing this with Monsters Ball usually, but I think using it with Mercury Retrograde would make for a brilliant pairing this year. I might save my bar for my Halloween night bath.

Pictured – Boo! shower slime
Okay, I’m aware that there are many unpopular opinions on Boo! and the shower slimes in general, but I really am impressed with this product. The consistency of shower slime is much better that I thought it would be, I thought it would be very easy to over use this product, but I just dip my fingers in and use the residue left on my hand. It’s a really different product, I don’t find it to be any better than using a gel or soap, but it’s fun to use. I’m also not that mad at the scent choice. I understand why people are annoyed about the sweet candy scent, because we do relate this product to Christmas with Snow Fairy being the ultimate LUSH product, however a sweet scent does make more sense to be in a Halloween product, due to the tradition of ‘Trick or Treating.’ The only thing I’m disappointed about with Boo! is that it contains bamboo stem extract which is supposed to give it an exfoliating property, but I don’t feel that this product is exfoliating at all.

Pictured – Glow Worm Fun
I’ve had the pleasure of using Glow Worm before as I purchased a bar when I visited the Liverpool store when it opened and I really enjoy it. Carrying the Avobath scent, this fun has a gorgeous uplifting scent of avocado, bergamot and lemongrass. This fun bar also glows in the dark, however I have never been successful in my bath water glowing, despite using most of an entire bar. I’m pleased that more people are having access to this fun bar and I hope that the other Liverpool exclusive bars will be coming to all stores soon as they are really brilliant and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed using them.

Pictured – Ghost in the Dark soap
When I said at the beginning of this post that I enter the shop to purchase a couple of items and end up walking out with product I had zero intention of purchasing – Ghost in the Dark was one of these products. I never ever use soap, so I have stopped purchasing it as it is a waste of money and product. One of the reasons that I don’t use soap often is because of how long it takes to get through a bar. I like to change up what I use and I never use the same product two days in a row, so it’s difficult for me to store soap once I’ve used it, it doesn’t store well once it has come into contact with soap. However, as we are heading into the winter months where the nights are darker, I don’t plan on having extravagant baths every time I bathe so I might start using up my soap stash. I’ve also heard from friends that the new soap base means that soap bars aren’t lasting as long, so hopefully it won’t take me too long to get through this bar. Scent wise, Ghost in the Dark is another Avobath scented product so will pair nicely with Glow Worm fun.

Overall I am really impressed with the Halloween collection this year! At first I thought it wasn't going to be much, but now that I have seen, smelt and used some of these items, I'm obsessed!
