♥ LUSH Perfume Dupes - First Impression!
July 12, 2017
Perfumes are one of the few products that LUSH have that I haven't really delved into much. In whole honesty, the main reason is because I'm not a huge fan of their main line perfumes. I've found a few that I enjoy, like Karma and Sun, and there are a few that I plan to try out, like Vanillary. But the main reason I don't have a huge perfume collection is because I would much prefer the LUSH Kitchen perfumes. The Kitchen have created perfumes that carry the same scent as some of the most loved LUSH products, like my all time favourite scent American Cream, one of my favourite bath bombs ever, the Halloween special Lord of Misrule and a favourite main line bath bomb Frozen. I have seen so many comments all over the Kitchens social media asking for a perfume week, but they are yet to give in to the many requests. We have had a few perfumes available in the last year, we had Rose Jam and Yuzu and Cocoa available a few months ago and we had Tuca Tuca a couple of weeks ago, but we are still yet to have a week full of the perfumes that everybody has been dying for!
As the Kitchen have failed to fill the void inside of me that just needs to smell like a walking and talking bath bomb, I gave in an bought some dupes. I have seen people buy and rave about perfumes from The Perfume People for so long now, I caved and bought a few. Actually, I bought quite a lot..
So if you're tired of waiting for a perfume week and also need to fill a gap in your life, I'm going to give you my first impressions of the haul that turned up on my doorstep today and give you an idea of what to expect when you order from The Perfume People.
Okay, the first thing to note is that these items are sold as perfume oils, which means that when you apply them to your skin they won't absorb straight away. For this reason I wouldn't recommend spraying these on clothes as think this may leave an oil stain. If you purchase a spray bottle, I would suggest spraying yourself with the scent before you put on your clothes.
The big shock for me was that these perfumes are so cheap - in price! For a 2.5ml sample bottle (as they call it) you are only paying £1.50! The small bottles don't have a spray or a roller ball, they are a splash bottle. For £1.50 I would highly suggest if you are interested in purchasing that you grab a couple of these size bottles to see if the scent is for you. You should also note that you can buy 8 maximum of these bottle sizes per order. I also grabbed some of the 10ml roller ball bottles, which are super handy for carrying around in your handbag and not having to worry about the cap falling off and losing all your perfume to the bottom of your bag. You can also purchase 30ml bottles that come with the traditional spray for £10 and 100ml bottles with with a splash bottle.
Now it's time to talk about the scents! So I purchased five of the 10ml roller ball bottles in some of my favourite LUSH scents as I knew I would love them if the scent was right!
This scent, is perfect. I would have thought that the Lord of Misrule scent would have been quite hard to perfect, a blend of vanilla, black pepper and patchouli, but they really did get it spot on. I have been desperate to get my hands on a Lord of Misrule perfume for so long as this scent is so comforting for me. This scent reminds me of the build up to Christmas as you can guarantee as soon as the Christmas range comes out in LUSH, I'll go and grab my haul and the first bath bomb I will use will be LOM. Lord Miserable is a definite must have if you are a fan of the scent and I will probably be buying a 30ml bottle when I put in my next order!
I was so excited to grab a Comforter perfume as I have the solid from LUSH but it just doesn't last long enough for me. I'm quite disappointed with this dupe, actually, the more I smell it the more disappointed I become! The Comforter should smell like creamy berries, a real burst of fresh blackcurrant with a sweetness to it. Comfortable is not that at all, I can see the similarity but when you get the full scent of the perfume, it's bad. It really is not nice =, in my honest opinion. It doesn't smell berry like, it smells like ammonia and I don't plan to where this perfume at all. For this one, I'll wait until the actual perfume comes out in the Kitchen.
Calacas is quite a new scent to me. I was introduced to it last year when I made my second Kitchen order and I bought a bottle of the shower gel. As soon as I smelt the gel I knew I would love this scent in any format. I loved Monsters Ball that came out for Halloween 2016 and I am praying that it comes back this year. I've seen a few bottles of Calacas perfume going around on eBay, but they are so bloody expensive as this perfume hasn't been available in so long! When I saw that The Perfume People had a dupe, I needed a 10ml as I knew if I liked it I would go through the 2.5ml in no time. I am so happy I got myself the bigger bottle as this scent is pretty much exactly like the original. Calacas is a very sweet lime scent, which much resembles the green gummy snakes you used to get as a kid. I am obsessed with this dupe and would highly recommend it to any Calacas fan!
Another seasonal scent that I adore is So White. I hadn't tried this bath bomb up until maybe 2014 when I watched a YouTube video of Zoella's and she described how it smelt, like juicy green apples, a really crisp and fresh scent. Zoe totally sold it to me and once I used it I came to love the scent a lot! There aren't many products that carry the same scent, a long lost perfume that hasn't been available in years, a shower gel that usually makes an appearance in the Kitchen around Christmas and the bath bomb and shower jelly that come out at Christmas. I've tried and failed to find a bottle of So White perfume, but as it hasn't been available for sale since 2009/2010. If you adore the So White scent as much as I do, seriously don't bother with this dupe. White Snow smells like cheap plastic, it has no apple scent to it at all, there is no element of So White in the slightest, so seriously don't waste your money!
My all time favourite scent has to be American Cream, the gorgeous blend of vanilla and strawberry makes such a beautiful scent that I would love to spray all over myself and wear every day of my life! I think American Cream is one of the most in search of products for Lushies as the newest bottles sell for extortionate prices and I'm talking double, sometimes triple the retail price. I have pleaded with the Kitchen to bring back the bubble bar Flosty Gritter that carries this amazing scent, but I haven't been successful so far. This dupe, American Dreamer, was the main reason I placed this order. I am so glad that this dupe is exactly how I expected it to be! It smells just like the hair conditioner and just like my American Pie shower jelly. I'm going to go through this bottle super quick so I will certainly be getting a 30ml bottle next!
This perfume dupe is supposed to share the same scent of the much loved Celebrate family, which includes the Golden Wonder bath bomb, Celebrate shower gel, the retro Snowshowers products and the newest addition, Bubbly. I find that this dupe is more Bubbly than Celebrate. Celebration has the extra orange scent that Bubbly has and as they are in the same scent family, I would agree that this is a really good dupe! I think this would be a really nice perfume to wear on a daily basis and it's one of the few scents that doesn't smell typically LUSH.
I couldn't believe that LUSH didn't bring back Yog Nog bath bomb last year, I thought as it was new the previous year it would for sure make a come back as it had been so popular with Lushies. When I saw it wasn't coming back but they were releasing Yog Log, a shower roulade with the same scent, I was really excited to try it out. However, Yog Log didn't have the same scent, it was a lot more spicy, you could smell the nutmeg in this product. I feel like Eggnogg is more Yog Log. I'm not saying that it's not a nice scent, because it is, I just feel it's not suited to a perfume. I feel like this scent is more suited for a candle in the winter months to make your house feel cosy, so I don't think I'll we wearing this on my skin or repurchasing.
I was confused with Freeze as I wasn't sure whether this would smell like Freeze the Kitchen perfume or whether it would be Frozen, as I had seen some people suggest but not confirm. I can confirm that this scent is Frozen and it's perfect! It smells just like the bath bomb and like the Your Mother Should Know bubble bar that was released for Mothers Day 2017. You can really smell the neroli, which I think is what makes the Frozen scent so different from anything else. I really like this dupe and I will probably get the 30ml spray bottle, even though I wasn't expecting to be overly excited with this dupe, so I only got a 2.5ml bottle.
I bought the Candi & Cream perfume as I thought this was going to smell like Creamy Candy! I'm not too sure whether this bottle has been mislabelled or whether I've just misinterpreted the name, but this perfume smells just like Yummy Mummy or Yummy Yummy Yummy, a scent you will probably know as Roller. I'm not mad at it! I like the Yummy Mummy scent, but I don't think I'd want to spray myself in it.. I am kinda pissed that I don't have a Creamy Candy dupe as I really love that scent, but I honestly think this is a packaging error!
I am not a huge fan of the Snowcake scent if I'm being 100% honest, but it is growing on me a lot more lately! I remember getting my first slice of Snowcake soap a few years ago in a gift set and I gave it to my Mum because I couldn't stand it. And then for some reason last year, I was craving the scent for some strange unknown reason so I got myself a piece of the reformulated Snowcastle soap in 2016. I haven't used any other products that I can remember that share this scent, but from my use of the soap I can tell that Snow and Marzipan Cake is a good dupe! You really can smell the marizpan scent with the undertone of almond and it's really nice! Again, I'm not too sure I'd want to walk into the office smelling like this, so I'll try it out on a weekend to see how it settles on my skin.
I would love to say that this is a really good dupe, but it's just not. You can tell that Fairy in the Snow is trying to be Snow Fairy, but it's just not quite there, When you smell a Snow Fairy product, you get a real sense of sweet candy and pear drops, but this perfume is tart, which I think is a quality that Snow Fairy doesn't have. If anything, it's Snow Fairy on charge, it's too strong and I think would become sickly as a perfume. I might try this as an oil burner as I don't think I could stand that strong scent being worn on my skin and smelling it throughout the day.
I have been in love with the Honey I Washed the Kids scent ever since I on a whim bought the solid perfume in the Kitchen a couple of months back. I now want to own everything there is possible in this scent, the liquid perfume being one! This is again a perfume that is hard to get hold of as it is either sold for way too much or snapped up really quick as so many people are in search of it. The more I smell this dupe, the more I like it and think it's like the original. This is a one for certain that I would wear on a daily basis and another I would consider buying the 30ml bottle.
And to finish with the first bottle I smelt when I opened this package! Angels Delight has a space in my heart as it was in the first gift set I bought when I really got back into LUSH. As far as I am aware, LUSH have never released a perfume in this scent, so when I saw on The Perfume Peoples website that they had a dupe, I needed to grab a bottle! I toyed with getting a 10ml bottle and I'm very glad I never. All hope I had of any of these smelling nice went out the window when I smelt this bottle. Quite like Comfortable, this perfume has a scent of ammonia and it is awful. It's so sad because I can smell the slightest bit of the Angels Delight scent and then you're hit in the face with this awful chemical scent that is not pleasant at all. Please don't waste your money on this one!
Overall, I'm happy with my order. There are a few that I'm disappointed in, but the really good dupes really do make up for it! I would really recommend the American Cream and Lord of Misrule dupes as I think they are the closest to the scent and also because they are two of my favourites!

Thanks so so much, I have been hunting this down for a long time and just ordered it from the UK to New Zealand.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I could help! Hope you enjoy your perfumes :)
DeleteDo you know if they have a 'Love' dupe? That scent is amazing! x
ReplyDeleteI believe they did have a dupe called 'Lurve,' but they have renamed some of their products so I cannot be as sure! Failing that, LUSH do do a perfume and body spray in the 'Love' scent! :) x
DeleteThe use of perfumes was first recorded in the ancient Egyptian. The perfumes were made using volatile natural and synthetic chemical organic compounds. When they are volatilized in the air, people can smell the refreshing scent and at the same time, Perfumes testing
