♥ LUSH Valentines Day & Mothers Day Haul!
February 11, 2018
I really can't believe I missed uploading a blog post last week! I was so full of flu I barely left my bed and I had absolutely no energy to sit and take photos for a post, so I'm hitting you all with a double whammy today - two collection hauls! I have waited till the last minute to purchase the Valentines Day collection and I went to my local store on the release day to pick up some Mothers Day stuff. I'm quite pleased with some of the products from both the collections, so I wanted to share my thoughts so you can all go and stock up on some good Valentines Day stuff before it leaves and have a good idea on the Mothers Day products before you buy!
As I mentioned in my Valentines Day preview post, I am never overly fussed about the Valentines Day collection as much of the products are floral scented and that's not really my kind of thing. I much prefer fruity scents to floral, but I was actually surprised with some of the scents once I got my hands on the actual products. I always say that with LUSH, you can't always go by the description given on the website for the scent as you may conjure a scent in your head that the product smells nothing like - this has happened to me more than once!
Pictured - Heart of Enlightened Expectation bubble bar melt
I am genuinely quite surprised by how much I like this products, I don't love it, but I really don't hate it like I thought I would. Heart of Enlightened Expectation is definitely a floral scent, packed with jasmine, rose and geranium. I really tend to steer clear of geranium scents as they give me a headache, but luckily the jasmine in this product sweetens the overall scent, making it actually quite nice. This isn't the kind of scent I'd ask LUSH to make in different formats, but it's nice enough. Heart of Enlightened Expectation is also a very pretty product! I love how it looks like a biscuit and the gold lustre on the top finishes it off perfectly!
Pictured - Kiss Me Quick wash card
Believe it or not, this product is nothing like the Kiss Me Quick wash card that was released in 2017. I would have thought that this would have carried the same scent and the image had just changed, but no! In 2017, Kiss Me Quick had the 29 High Street fragrance, which is absolutely stunning! This year, Kiss Me Quick is a lot more robust in form, I can't see this one breaking as easy as the previous years, but also the scent is completely different! This is going to sound strange, but the scent is quite reminiscent of lipstick (?) as weird as that sounds! You can also definitely smell the mimosa in there, which I really like! The scent is like a lipstick mixed with a little bit of peach, and I love it! I would love to see bubble bars or a shower gel in this scent!
Pictured - Love Boat bath bomb
Love Boat is a product that I have used before, as I picked one up as soon as the Valentines Day products hit the store. I really like the scent of this product, which is exactly the same as the Mum bath bomb that was released for Mothers Day last year. It smells like Love Hearts sweets, a very sweet and sugary scent that will literally make your mouth water! Love Boat is also very pretty in the bath, the combination of pastel colours is just beautiful! I would definitely suggest picking up at least one of these to try it out!
Pictured - Rose Bombshell bath bomb
I really despise Rose Bombshell. Whoever said that this is the Rose Jam scent has lied. This bath bomb has a very artificial rose scent to me, and it gives me a headache. I won't even use this bath bomb so I'm going to gift it to a friend. The scent is just far too overpowering for me!
Pictured - Tender is the Night naked shower cream
As much as I really don't like the concept of the naked shower gels and creams, I was quite intrigued by this one. I really dislike that LUSH are bringing out new scents in this format, why can't we have them in liquid?! I really like this scent, like I really like it! As in if it was a liquid shower cream, I would have bought a 500g bottle! LUSH, you're loosing money here! Much like the massage bar with the same name, Tender is the Night has a really lovely soft gentle scent of jasmine and ylang ylang, which is not overly floral. It's very fresh and does kind of make me think of older ladies! You can also smell the shea butter in this product, which just adds a little bit of creaminess to the scent. I am a fan of the scent, but I am not a fan of the naked option. I understand where LUSH are going and where they want to be with the non packaging, but for someone like me who has 40+ bottles of shower gel and cream, having it in this format is just not an option to be honest.
Pictured - Tisty Tosty bath bomb
I actually can't believe that after discontinuing this bath bomb only last year, they have already brought it back for a collection. I understand why this bath bomb was discontinued, it had no colour and it's not a scent that kids would pick up. I do appreciate that LUSH have made it a bit more exciting by adding the pink, but it still doesn't make me want to use it. I really hate the rose buds inside of this bath bomb, having them floating around the tub creeps me out! However, I am happy that it came back for all the people who loved this bath bomb, but LUSH, can we have Frozen next please?!
Pictured - Tunnel of Love soap
I really don't buy soap that often, because I know for a fact it's going to sit in a drawer and never get used. I couldn't not pick up a chunk of Tunnel of Love once I heard it carried the scent of Never Mind the Ballistics bath bomb, and that it definitely does! I haven't tried this soap yet, but I for sure will as I want my body to smell like that scent, always! I also love how LUSH made this soap a little different, with the soft centre that is packed with coconut oil to make for a super moisturising wash!
Pictured - Unicorn Horn bubble bar
If you've been around LUSH for the past couple of years, you probably know of and have used a Unicorn Horn. Much mistaken for the Twilight scent, which it is not as Unicorn Horn does not have tonka as an ingredient which is a key element to the Twilight scent, Unicorn Horn does have a very in your face, strong but fresh lavender scent. This really is a beautiful product and will definitely help you to snooze of easier at night. Every year that Unicorn Horn has been released, it has been changed, and I know a lot of people love this years, but I really miss the baby blue that ran through it last year. This obviously doesn't affect the scent or the way the product works, but I do prefer the design of last years.
Pictured - Whole Lotta Love bubble bar
If you are gutted that Fizzbanger is no longer a main line product or you are a fan of the Love body spray or perfume, you need to get yourself this bubbleroon. This is the strongest scented Love product I have ever smelt and it's even stronger once it's in the bath tub. When I have a lot of LUSH around me, as I do right now, the one scent I can pick out from them all is Whole Lotta Love. The scent on this product is gorgeous and the bright fuchsia pink is also stunning!
Pictured - With Love gift set
Contains - Tender is the Night naked shower gel and Ro's Argan body conditioner
I purchased this gift set purely for Tender is the Night! A quick hack for you, to buy a bottle/chunk/whatever you want to call it, of Tender is the Night by itself, it's a whopping £14.50, but this gift set is only £12.95 and you get a small tub of Ro's Argan also! Yes, you are getting a bigger bottle when you buy it alone, but if you just want to try it and you're not sure whether you like it or not, I would definitely recommend this gift set!
Pictured - Love Hearts gift set
Contains - Rose Bombshell, Love Boat and Tisty Tosty bath bombs and Whole Lotta Love and Unicorn Horn bubble bars
I think that the Love Hearts gift set is the best of the bunch for Valentines Day. Not only do I love this box size and shape for storing my bubble bars in, this gift also has a really good selection of the products. The box is super cute and looks great on my shelf with all my other boxes in this style too!
The Mothers Day release has been quite controversial this year, with many people not liking the look of the products, complaining that there had been too much soap released and old products coming back but with new scents. I have picked the best of the bad bunch and I'm quite happy with what I have got!
Pictured - Baa Bar bubble bar
Quite possibly the most controversial product of this release is Baa Bar. Last year, this little sheep made it's first appearance and carried a very strong violet scent. For me, I disliked this product as I really don't like violet so I ended up selling on the two that I purchased. This year however, Baa Bar has made a comeback, but now has the infamous Twilight scent. Although I now appreciate this as it means I can use this bubble bar now, violet is a scent that LUSH are lacking in and there were many people who loved this bubble bar last year, that were disappointed by the scent change this year. LUSH, we have plenty of Twilight scented products now, and I know that Sleepy made the general public go insane and attracted a lot more business to you, but seriously?! We do not need anymore Twilight scented products, thank you very much.
Pictured - Citrus Are Doing it For Themselves bubbleroon
Just what everybody wanted, another citrus product! I actually really enjoy the scent of this bubbleroon! Citrus Are Doing it For Themselves has the exact same scent as Elsie the Giraffe from last year, a really zesty and tangy lemon scent. I really enjoy this scent, it pairs really nicely with any fruity cocktail and I can imagine that this will smell amazing in the water!
Pictured - Honey Bear massage bar
I am obsessed with how cute this little guy is! I initially thought that Honey Bear would be Honey I Washed the Kids scented, which trust me, I would not have complained about! This might just be me, but my little bear smells like Christmas cake.. I know this massage bar has the exact same ingredients as Sea Salted Caramel soap, but I smell a very rich raisin and brandy scent, which I am also not complaining about! I really like the scent of Honey Bear and I know I'm going to love the moisture it will give to my skin.
Pictured - Madame President bath bomb
This is the bath bomb I was most excited to try out! The colours, vibrant pink and neon blue look so stunning together! One thing I am not sure about with this product is the scent. To me, this bath bomb smells a lot like Lovestruck from last year, and I have never despised a LUSH scent as much as I did that one! Although I do think Madame President smells similar, it is a lot more light, meaning that when used with a strong scented bubble bar, you can't smell this product, (phew!) The colours are stunning in the water and you can get some really pretty bath art shots of this one! I may have to buy a couple more before they're gone!
Pictured - Mother of Pearl bubbleroon
This is what I have been looking forward to for a long ass time. I love the Sakura scent family! Rub Rub Rub is my go to body scrub, it smells amazing and leaves you feel so fresh and clean. There really aren't a lot of products in this scent, so a bubble bar is a perfect addition! I cannot even explain how vibrant your bath water will be after using this little gem. My water felt so silky soft and the whole room filled with that gorgeous scent! This is so far, my most favourite product that LUSH have released in a collection for a while and I need to buy them all!
Pictured - Mum, Look What I Made For You bath bomb
I am so not sold on the scent of this bath bomb at all.. From the ingredients list you would expect this bath bomb to smell like a chocolate heaven with a nutty element thanks to the coconut and almond oils. Absolutely not! This actually smells like a bag of dried dog food. It's horrific! This will definitely not be one I will be stocking up on at all.
Pictured - Purple Drain bubbleroon
I wasn't planning on picking up a Purple Drain at all, but when I was in store, they were demoing it in the large jugs and one of the managers had me sniff the jug. It smelt so good in the water! Now I have it home and I can smell it without the influence of all the other products surrounding me, I made a good choice. Purple Drain smells to me how I wish Ladybird had smelt. Purple Drain is very heavy on the mint and light on the floral scent, which is what I thought Ladybird was going to be. I really like this bubble bar, the fresh mint scent is stunning and the floral element is barely there at all. I may have to pick up another one or two of these as they will be perfect come the summer months.
Pictured - Raspberry Milkshake soap
As I have mentioned many times before, I very rarely get excited about soap. However, when I read the ingredients list of this bar and heard reviews telling me how good it was, I needed a bar. As you can see from the photos, it's already been in the bath with me! I really enjoy this soap, the scent is what it says on the tin! A very sweet raspberry scent with a creamy tone due to the almond milk. I love this soap and I need every product possible in this scent family please! I love how beautiful the soap is also, the added touch of seeds on the top and the splatter of baby pink in the centre!
I do plan on picking up a few more pieces from the Mothers Day collection nearer the end of the month and I will for certain be grabbing a gift set, so keep an eye out on my Instagram account for photos of those!
Overall, I think both of these collections have been better than I initially thought they would be. There are a few products that I have been a little disappointed by, but also products that have really surprised me. I would definitely suggest a wander to your local store to have at least a sniff of all the products, just don't blame me if you end up leaving with a bag full!
