I am obsessed with Jeffree Star Cosmetics and I have been since I got my first palette back in 2019. My collection has grown and grown, and I now own seven full sized palettes, two minis, a highlighter palette, a lipstick vault, so many full sized liquid lips, lip glosses and lipsticks - and I just want more! My collection is nowhere near the size of some peoples, but as I spend most of my time in my bedroom nowadays, I'm not using it much! So it doesn't really make sense as to why I have more on the way, right?!

I was lucky enough to be able to grab two of the summer mystery boxes! These drops usually sell out super quick, so I'm so pleased I was able to grab what I did. I will start this post before I recieve the items to chat about what I want or expect to see and then I will finish the post off once my boxes are here and show you the mysterious items I get inside!

If you have never had a mystery box before, it's exactly what it says on the tin. This will be my 3rd and 4th mystery boxes from Jeffree Star and I haven't been disappointed yet, they are such good value for money and it's so exciting waiting to get them and wondering what will be inside, or looking for spoilers if you're like me and just can't wait!

Firstly, lets talk about whats on offer! There were four different boxes available this launch and I purchased two of them. I will go into a bit more detail below about the boxes I got, but the other two are bigger and obviously more expensive. The Deluxe Mystery Box contains 8 items and costs $100 and the Supreme Mystery Box contains 13 items and costs $180. I would love to be able to afford these boxes, but being honest I have the palettes that are most likely going to be in these boxes so I find the smaller boxes suit me more.

You can only purchase these mystery boxes from the official Jeffree Star Cosmetics website which with me being from the UK is slightly annoying as it means import fees and slower shipping, however I cannot fault this process at all. When you purchase from the website and enter your details, your shipping is calcualted to include your import tax, so your parcel can be delivered directly to you with no slips through your door to say you have fees to pay. This is so much quicker and easier and then you're not stuck with a fee that you aren't too sure how expensive it's going to be and you don't have to go to the post office to collect. The shipping usually takes around two weeks from my past experience, which isn't bad considering it's coming from the other side of the world.

Now lets get into the boxes that I got..
Pictured: Mini mystery box

The first box I grabbed was the Mini mystery box. This box costs $25 and contains four items, one of which Jeffree has confirmed is an exclusive liquid lipstick. There wasn't a Mini option when Jeffree released the last mystery boxes, and I'm really glad they have been brought back for this launch. This box also has a value of $64, so I think for $25 it's an absolute steal! With a value of $64, when you deduct the value of the confirmed liquid lipstick, this leaves $46 to play with. I think that this box might contain a lip scrub at $12, a lipgloss at $18 and a lip liner at $16. Of course, you can switch out some of the items with others and we might get a piece of merch instead of one of the above, which I think is probably likely. In the past we have gotten caps, beanies, pins etc, so I wouldn't be surprised if this box had a merch item. I would much prefer another make up item instead of a merch item, I have a beanie and a cap and I never ever wear them as I'm just not a hat person at all.

I really hope that the exclusive liquid lip product is a wearable colour. I got the Valentines box a couple of years back that included one of two exclusive colours of The Gloss, and I got Succulent which is such a beautiful colour, so I have high hopes! I think even though Jeffree is a bit out there with his colours, if there is one colour that will be in all boxes I think he has to play it a little safer with a nude, red or maybe a purple - a purple shade would be my first pick!

The next item I grabbed was the Premium mystery box. This is the box I have gotten twice now and I have not been disappointed! The first time I got this box was the Valentines launch in 2020 and I got a pop socket, a beanie, The Gloss in shade Succulent and the Alien palette - which was huge for such a small box! The second time I got this box was at the last launch in the Spring where I got Blue Blood palette, Strawberry Gum lip scrub, Christmas Cookie liquid lipstick, The Gloss in shade Heavens Gate and a cute tie-dye cap. What I have learnt from past experience, is that the main item (usually a palette) is the same and then there are variations of the other items in the boxes, it isn't the same shades in every box. With the last box I was super lucky to get the variation that I got, as I did see images online of some that included a pastel blue lipstick which isn't my vibe at all.

This box costs $60 and includes six items, one of which we already know what it is! For this launch, Jeffree is launching a new mini palette called Star Ranch, which I am so excited about! The shades in this palette are top secret until we start getting our boxes and I can't wait to see what they're like! Jeffree has said that they are very wearable and that the pink unicarton doesn't really reflect what is inside, so we're left totally in the dark until we get our boxes - which just adds to the excitement! Jeffree has also confirmed that this box includes one exclusive item and one new item, in addition to the Star Ranch palette!

The value of this box is $115, which is nearly double the cost you're paying! The value of the Star Ranch palette, making it the same as the other nine shade mini palettes would be $28, so the value of the rest of the box is $87 across 5 products. I think it's a safe bet that a liquid lipstick will be included, which takes us to $69. I'm really not sure what else will be included and I'm so excited to find out. This box will almost certinatley include a piece of merch and as this is a summer launch, it would be so cool if it was something different to a hat! I have seen a comment of sunglasses going around on Reddit and that would be different and cool! I would love to see a highlighter or Fuck Proof mascara included in this box, that would be my favourite option!

Now we've been over everything we know so far, I will revisit this post once the boxes arrive and show you all what I get! I'm so excited!

**

Okay so it's been a week since I got my boxes but it's been such a busy week I haven't had a chance to update this post! I've been working in the office all week, which is the first time I've done this since March 2020 and I really forgot how tiring it is!

Both of my boxes came in a bigger white box which I appreciated as the boxes are so cute, I like to keep them to store the packaging in - yes I am weird and keep the boxes for all the items I have bought. First up lets talk about the Mini!

I got a variation I was super happy with! Inside the box I got:
The Gloss in 'Peach Price Tag'
RRP $18
Velour Liquid Lipstick in a limited colour (which aren't named) RRP $18
Automatic Eyeliner in 'Armoured Truck' RRP $20
Single eyeshadows in the shades 'Sweetner' and 'UndertakerRRP $9.99 each

The only item I was worried about getting an off variation of, was the eyeliner. I had seen some boxes that included a neon green colour which isn't something I would wear at all, so I'm really happy with the gorgeous iridescent colour that is 'Armoured Truck'. I was a little bit disappointed with the shadows, as 'Sweetner' is from Blood Sugar which my boyfriend very kindly gifted me for Christmas last year and 'Undertaker' is for one, a blue which I don't use and inlcuded in the Blue Blood palette which I recieved in my last mystery box, so I already have it. I am however very happy with the lip gloss, 'Peach Price Tag' is a beautiful colour, very non-offensive to those of us make up lovers who don't opt for out their colours. The limited edition liquid lipstick which is unnamed and just has the Star Ranch version of the JSC logo where the name would be, is right up my street! It blends in with my small collection of JSC liquid lips very well! It's a gorgeous mauve taupe colour with a slight pinkinsh colour. It's not something I would usually go for, btu seeing it next to the other liquid lips I have, it does work with the colours I usually wear. I think with the right eye look, this would look gorgeous.

So lets talk money! I paid $25 for this box and we were told that the box had a RRP of $64. However, whemn you add together the RRP of each item, the box's value is actually $75.98, which is an absolute bargain! For $25 you can't even purchase the eyeliner and a single shadow, so the way I think of it is that everything else was free! I'm pleased with this box and I hope that Jeffree continues to release the mini versions.

Now lets talk about the Premium box!

Inside the box I got:
The Gloss in 'Slime Glossin''  RRP $18
Tinted Lip Balm in 'Cowboy Kiss' RRP $18
Velour Lip Scrub in 'Rainbow Sherbert' RRP $12
Jeffree Star Cosmetics magnetic palette RRP $?
Single eyeshadows in the shades 'Priceless,' 'Raspberry' and 'PowerRRP $9.99 each
 'Star Ranch' palette RRP $28

I am extremley pleased that I got this variation! Again, I had saw a bright neon green lipstick turning up in some peoples boxes and I was really hoping that this box didn't make it's way to me. Firstly, I love the 'Slime Glossin'' lip gloss! It's always nice to get an item from the Conspiracy collection as I only have the two palettes and the Ryland lipstick. The green slime shade looks quite scary, but it does go on clear which is good! It also has a flavour unlike any of the other JSC lip products, this gloss tastes liek a subtle lime and lemon which is lovely and refreshing for this time of the year.

Another product I am really impressed with is the 'Cowboy Kiss' tinted lip balm. It's a gorigeous colour and not very pigmented at all, so it might look a bit dark in the tube, but on it's very sheer. I have enjoyed wearing this lip balm this past week with being in the office. I don't like to wear lipsticks underneath masks as it just goes everywhere no wonder how much the staying power is, because it's so hot! However, this lip balm is for one, keeping my lips nice and moisturised during this heatwave and just adds teh perfect amount of colour to complete my make up! This was also exclusive to this box so I think this might be a sign of products to come!

I'm so happy to have another lip scrub, as since I got the 'Strawberry Gum' tub in my last mystery box, I haven't even picked up my LUSH ones, Jeffrees scrubs contain so much more oil so it almost feels like a two in one product. 'Rainbow Sherbert' tastes absolutlely incredible, just like those long sticks of rainbow sherbert you used to buy as a child - I could just eat the entire tub.

I was really hoping I would get 'Raspberry' in my box as this shadow is included in the Jawbreaker palette which is not a palette I would purchase myself, as out of the 24 shades included I would only reach for about 9 of them, so it's just not a palette for me. However, I think that the shade 'Raspberry' is gorgeous and would work so well with the shades in Blood Sugar and Blood Lust. The other two shades, 'Priceless' and 'Power' are both in the Blue Blood palette, which like I said I already have. 'Priceless' is a very easy to work with shade, but definitley not something I am missing as I have the Orgy palette and that contains every neutral matte colour you could ever want. As much as I love the colour of 'Power,' it's not a colour that I would reach for so I'm unsure about this one.

The other exclusive item in this box was a magnetic palette. I think it was defintiely a more of a when will it happen than a will he bring one out, when it come to Jeffree making these palettes. Having loads of multiple single shadows just isn't something people want anymore, not to mention storing them and travelling with them. I must admit, while this palette defintiely serves it's purpose with the strong magnet to hold your shadows in place, it doesn't feel as luxurious as Jeffrees other palettes. I think after a while of use, the hinge area won't last. I'm really curious to see how much these retail for.

And the last item, the very much awaited Star Ranch palette.

Firstly, the packaging is gorgeous, but Jeffree was right when he said that the unicarton didn't reflect the contents, no pink to be seen at all! The texture of the unicarton is like wood too which is a lovely touch, as I keep all my boxes. However, this might get dirty easy and not be as simple to clean like some of the other unicartons. The actual palette art is gorgeous too, it's giving me lots of The Simple Life vibes, which I am so here for as I loved that show! I love the mix of matte and shiny that the pallete has too.  I really love how Jeffree makes all of his palettes so different, you really can see the collections stand out from one another. Now on to the shades. This isn't what I was expecting at all. The top row is gorgeous, 'Yak Farm' feels like an eyeshadow version of 'Hidden Hills' liquid lipstick which I adore and is my go to shade. 'Owl Eyes' is a gorgeous pure gold colour with the perfect amout of shimmer included, I feel like this shade would be a gorgeous highlighter on deeper skin tones. The shade 'Open Range' is also lovely, I think it resembles 'Explicit' from the Mini Orgy a lot, like I feel they are the same colour but 'Open Range' is a warm version and 'Explicit' is cool toned. I also feel like 'Wyoming' is a near perfect match for 'Invitation' from the Orgy palette, 'Wyoming' is just a smidge warmer. I think 'Caspar Mountain' is a gorgeous colour and I think applied lightly and with the correct shades, would be a the perfect shade for inner corner highlighter. I also think 'Star Creek' is absolutely stunning! This is probably my favourite colour from the entire palette! The gold really does pop through when swatching and I'm excited to see what this looks like on the lid. Now the last threre shades.. Jeffree said when showing the unicarton in the mystery box video that the packaging didn't resemble the colour story as it was really wearable, which to me suggests that Jeffree doesn't think pink is a wearable colour - so since when was blue? 'Ole' Jeff' is a stunning colour and I think I may dip into it lightly for a halo eye for example, as it could be used as a topper to finish off a look. I will never ever reach for 'Grand Prismatic,' it's not my kind of colour at all and even if I suited it, I don't think I'd have the confidence to wear such a bright neon blue shade. And again, 'Winter Wind' is a gorgeous colour, that deep royal blue with the shimmer is so pretty, but I just don't see myself reaching for this shade at all. Blue is a colour story that the majority of people wouldn't wear, so I'm confused how Jeffree can say this palette is very wearable but literally a third of the colours are blue? I am going to keep the palette though as I will defintiely wear 5 possibly six of the shades.

Lets talk prices before I give my final thoughts! I paid $60 for this box and it was stated to have a RRP of $115. With all the products we know the RRP of, the total comes to $105.97, making the magnetic palette around $10, which I think is a fair price. I am pleased with the value of the box and I think around $10 for the magnetic pallete is fair enough.

Here are the swatches for the individual items:

Overall, when I first got the boxes I was really pleased as I got variations I wanted, however as time has gone on, I'm not super excited about any of these items. I remember when I got the first Valentines Mystery box and I was so excited to get the Alien palette, I would open it and swatch it and play with it because it was so gorgeous, and the last mystery box I got, even though I wasn't keen on Blue Blood, it was an item I had never gotten before and I use the pop socket every single day! I also feel like when you look compare the mini, premium, deluxe and supreme, they all included the same items just with a couple of added extras as you go up the boxes and different colours. All included single shadows, a lip gloss, a liquid lip.. I feel like if I had have gotten one of the larger boxes I would have been extremely disappointed.

I may have also made a Beautylish order for their version of the Jeffree mystery bag, so I will show you what I get in that box when it comes and I will compare the two :)
