♥ Better Than Sex?!

I've really got into Too Faced make up lately. I own a few eye shadow palettes, bronzers and blushers. I really enjoy all their products and they have become staple items in my make up collection that I reach for every single day. I have owned so many mascaras it's unbelievable. Finding a good mascara is like finding a good foundation - which I haven't managed to find yet either! I find mascaras either too clumpy, too watery, make no difference to my lashes, they crumble and they just don't do the job they're supposed to. I did find a really good mascara that done everything you would want a mascara to do, Benefit's Rollerlash. And then my heart got broken when I realised that Benefit test on animals and something has never disappeared from my make up collection quicker. Then I realised, why have I never tried a Too Faced mascara?! I'd heard a lot about the Better Than Sex mascara being really good. I'd watched and read loads of reviews of other mascaras and so many people were saying that the product they were reviewing just didn't match up to Better Than Sex. So I bought it.

I was so happy once I finally got hold of this item. I live in a small city where we don't have man high end make up counters, we don't have a MAC, NARS or many other kinda high end make up options. I knew the only way that I could purchase this item was via Debenhams, so I went on my dinner break to order it. I spent 20 minutes with a customer assistant attempting to order this item, bearing in mind that I only get a half an hour dinner, when another assistant comes to tell us that the website is down and it can't process orders. I told her that I would just leave it and said that I would order it myself online. So I'm off to buy my dinner, walking out the door when I see a familiar logo out of the corner of my eye. There, right at the front door is a cardboard stand full of Too Faced make up. How I missed this walking in the door I have no idea!
On first impression of this mascara, I realised how heavy it is, which isn't really an issue. The brush is a lovely hourglass shape which I've never really seen before. I loved it. It really does extend your lashes and give them volume without clumping. I have average to short eyelashes, so anything that will curl my lashes and actually make them look nice is a keeper. It made my eyes look wide awake and I was so impressed with the way the brush catches all the eyelashes, even the teeny tiny ones in the corners. The product smells like a standard mascara, it doesn't smell chemical or have an awful odour. I wore this all day for work but to my dismay, came home to a horrific mess. For some reason, this mascara gives you unbelievable black circles under your eyes. I know I have oily skin, but I've never had a mascara leave such dramatic blackness under my eyes, you would think I'd become a bit confused between black eye shadow and under eye concealer. I read a few reviews where people were saying that they have the same issue as me but I kept trying the product for a couple of weeks, still getting these dark circles. I was wiping under my eyes and touching up with powder multiple times throughout the day but they just wouldn't stay away. I was torn as I'd never had a mascara that made my eyelashes look so nice and just the way I want them. Which then leads me on to..

..why I bought this! Perfect! The exact same mascara but waterproof. Waterproof means that it won't budge right? So I bought the waterproof version thinking that I would get the best of both mascaras, the volume, extension and curl of the original Better Than Sex mascara with the waterproof aspect of this version. The packaging of this item is so lovely. The raindrop effect is such a good touch! I like that when you screw the brush back into the mascara, that the tube clicks to ensure you that its closed tight. It's the little things! However, upon applying this mascara for the first time, I noticed that this mascara doesn't have the same consistency as the original one. I feel that the waterproof version is a little watery, therefore meaning that it doesn't give me the volume that I get with the original one. When you put both brushes together, I also think that the waterproof one seems a little smaller which I found weird as aren't these mascaras supposed to be duplicates of each other? So although this mascara didn't really do much for my lashes, I still wanted to give it a go and see if the waterproof was actually waterproof. And it was, it didn't budge all day. I kept checking, expecting to wipe away a black circle but it never came and that made me very happy!
I found myself in a dilemma, do I have the lashes I've always wanted with huge dark black circles? Or do I have standard lashes that a £5 mascara can give me but without the black circles, no crumbling and no smudging? Then I came up with probably my best idea in my whole entire life. Wearing them both together. So I packed on the original one, making my eyelashes voluminous and super long, then put a couple layers of the waterproof version on top. I wore it for a whole day and didn't look at my lashes because I didn't want to see it. I wanted to see what it looked like after a whole day at work, in a stuffy hot office where I'm basically in tears every twenty minutes because technology, is an ass. When I got home I took a look and I was super impressed. I had no dark circles and my lashes still looked super curled, like I'd just applied the mascara right there and then! I've been wearing both mascaras for a couple of days and its English summertime right now, so it's still raining because it always rains here, but it's warm and stuffy too and this mascara does not nudge all day until I want to take it off. It doesn't even take much to get it off either, which is a total bonus as there is nothing worse than scrubbing at your eyes and loosing lashes with every rub.
I think that these two mascaras mixed together is the perfect duo, they work so well together and give you everything that you want from a mascara. If you are having any of the issues that I've had, I would definitely recommend buying the one you don't have and wearing them together, it will change your life!
