♥ My Top 10 LUSH Products!
October 07, 2018
I think trying to work out what your favourite LUSH products are when you have tried and own so many, is quite the task. I have had hundreds of products through my hands in the last few years alone, so trying to trim that down to 10, was exceptionally difficult. However, I have managed! If I was to save my favourite in store products or add some retro to the original collection, these would definitely be my options! This was quite difficult as there are some scent families that I adore, but aren't reflected in my top 10, like Butterball, Lord of Misrule, The Comforter and Snow Fairy, just to name a few! Here is my whittled down list that has taken a lot of thought to complete!
Pictured - American Cream hair conditioner
If you have ready any of my previous blog posts, it probably comes as no surprise that American Cream is in this list. I first purchased this hair conditioner in 2014 and I haven't used another conditioner since. I love everything about this product, my curly and easily tangled hair is so much more manageable when I have used American Cream. It makes my hair super soft and easy to work with. I don't think I could ever be swayed to use another hair conditioner, and this is one of the products that I have said if LUSH ever discontinue it, I'll stop shopping there. As well as how amazing it makes my hair feel, it also smells incredible! American Cream is one of the most gorgeous scents that LUSH have to offer and I love that they appear to be slowly expanding the products with this scent, like releasing the shower gel a few months ago. I'm still hoping out for a perfume or a body spray!
Pictured - Bucks Fizz body conditioner
I really enjoy the concept of a body conditioner as I m far too lazy to moisturise every day. I also don't like how sticky body lotions can make you and how long they take to sink into your skin. I have found that using a body conditioner has the same effects of using a lotion, but you don't have the awkward wet sticky stage where you can't sit down for a while. I have used most of the body conditioners that LUSH have released and I must admit that Bucks Fizz is my ultimate favourite. I find that Bucks Fizz is the best body conditioner for doing exactly that, conditioning your body. My skin feels super hydrated, soft and smooth after using this. Bucks Fizz also smells like the Celebrate and Bubbly scent, which is a pretty average scent but pairs so well with so many other products. Bucks Fizz is available this year for Christmas, I had all my fingers and toes crossed that it would be! I purchased in total, five 250g pots of Bucks Fizz last year and I currently only have one pot left. This is for sure, a product that I will be stocking up on at the end of the year.
Pictured - Calacas shower gel
Calacas shower gel definitely holds a special place in my heart as it is one of the first products that I ever purchased from the LUSH Kitchen and really kick started my love for LUSH again and made me start the whirlwind of collecting. There is no product that I have used that carries the Calacas scent that I don't love, but the shower gel is hands down the best of the bunch. I stocked up on Calacas when the new shower gels were released a few months ago and I have no regrets at all. It still confuses me as to why LUSH haven't brought Calacas to stores for Halloween, it would sell very well and I would definitely buy a couple of 500g bottles. This would be a perfect scent for people who casually shop at LUSH also, Calacas is a much loved scent and I very rarely come across anybody who doesn't love this scent. I would love for next Halloween, if LUSH brought out Calacas alongside Ectoplasm, and also released the perfumes in the same scent. I WOULD DIE.
Pictured - Christmas Sweater bath bomb
When I first saw the leaks of Christmas 2017, I thought that I wouldn't care for this bath bomb very much. I'm not much of a fan of heavy cinnamon scents at all and the way that Christmas Sweater was portrayed, was just that. I should know by now to not take LUSH's comments as holy grail, as usually what the advertise the product as smelling like, is slightly off. Christmas Sweater is literally Christmas in a ball of bicarbonate. The scent is gorgeous, just like my favourite Christmas candle from Marks and Spencer, the Mandarin, Cinnamon and Clove family. Like I said, Christmas in a ball! The bath art never disappoints also, there's so much colour packed into this bath bomb, deep red and rich gold, it's perfect. I was devastated when I heard that Christmas Sweater wasn't returning this year, I really didn't believe it until I saw that it wasn't at the Showcase. Christmas Sweater was new last year and I was sure that this would become a grail Christmas bath bomb, just like Shoot for the Stars, but maybe it wasn't as loved as I thought it was. I only have one left and I am saving it for the most perfect Christmas Eve bath this year. I am hoping that LUSH release some Christmas exclusives online again this year and Christmas Sweater is one of those products. If so, I'll be buying 10!
Pictured - Dirty Springwash shower gel
I honestly think that Dirty Springwash is the reason that my hair has grown so much in the past year. If you didn't know, most of LUSH shower gels can also be used as shampoo! I can't remember the last time I used an actual shampoo, because why would I buy shampoo when I have enough shower gel to last me a life time and they work amazing in my hair too! I have used a couple that have made my hair oily quicker or just haven't worked very well at all, but Dirty Springwash is not one of those. I don't even think I've used this bottle to wash with, I purely used it on my hair. It's quite well known that mint stimulates hair growth and as Dirty Springwash contains both spearmint and menthol crystals, it's sweet mint heaven ingredients have done wonders for my hair. My hair has always been the type of hair that grows to a certain length, which for me was around the crease of my armpit. I have never been able to grow my hair as long as I have wanted it, until now! Over the past year, I would say that my hair has easily grown over 15 inches in length. My hair now sits at where my trousers would sit on my hips. I also don't get my hair cut at a hairdressers (literally scarred for life) but I do cut it myself every couple of months. My hair has never been in better condition either, I have grown out any dyes that I had in my hair so it is all my natural colour and I have grown out most of the damaged hair that I had. If you are looking to grow your hair, I would strongly recommend trying Dirty Springwash!
Pictured - Ectoplasm shower cream
I was very dubious as to whether I would like the Ectoplasm shower 'scream' as LUSH have labelled it. I always prefer the consistency of a shower gel in oppose to a cream when it comes to LUSH, as many of the shower creams that LUSH have released have had very runny formulas or have gone completely the other way and are too thick, so thick that it's a work out just to get the product out of the bottle. I think they may have finally gotten it right with Ectoplasm. The consistency is perfect, a good thickness that I have no issue getting out of the bottle. I think the best thing about Ectoplasm shower cream is definitely the scent. I personally don't think it smells much like the jelly bomb at all, I get quite a funny undertone with the jelly bomb which I don't get at all with the shower cream. To me, it smells like Sunny D, an orange juice drink that I used to drink all the time when I was a kid and I still buy now if I see it. Although the ingredients include cocoa butter and almond oil, these are completely taken over by the tangerine oil, water and juice. From the first use of Ectoplasm, I knew it was in my top 10 straight away. I purchased a 250g bottle as I would usually, on the Halloween launch date but I just had to pick up a 500g bottle when I went to my local to get the Christmas products because I can't stop reaching for it, my 250g bottle will be empty in no time! I've heard that Ectoplasm may be staying until Christmas, which excites me a lot because it means that it may go into the Boxing Day sale and that means I can buy loads more!
Pictured - Honey I Washed the Kids body spray
When LUSH first released the limited edition body sprays nearing Christmas 2017, I really hoped that they would continue to make more. I was so pleased when the released Honey I Washed the Kids, as this has grown to be one of my all time favourite scents. I personally think that the body spray format is one of the best for this scent. HIWTK is a very sweet honey scent that in some formats has an element of milk chocolate in there too and the body spray is definitely one those. HIWTK stays with me all day, whether I spray on my skin or on my clothes. I bought two bottles of this body spray when they were released and I regret not buying more. I used up my first bottle in no time and I am over half way through my last bottle. I was wearing this daily, it took over from Plum Rain as my favourite fairly quickly and I would reach for this all the time. I haven't wore it in a while as I don't want to run out, but I do find myself grabbing the bottle every now and then just to give it a sniff. I'm going to save the last few sprays that my bottle has for special occasions only! If LUSH are looking to grow their in store body sprays, HIWTK would be the perfect choice!
Pictured - Let the Good Times Roll fresh cleanser
Let the Good Times Roll was the first fresh cleanser that I ever used and even though I have dabbled in the other options (apart from Aqua Marina - ew!) I always find myself coming right back to LTGTR. This is a scent that I can't understand why LUSH haven't expanded the family! Every time that LUSH ask for requests, like the shower gels and body lotions, I always see LTGTR in the comments and I do always request it myself. The scent is created by the combination of polenta, cinnamon powder and corn oil, giving a popcorn sweet scent that makes you want to bite your teeth into it! I can confirm that I may have nibbled on a piece of LTGTR and it does not taste how it smells! If you have never used a fresh cleanser, I take a chunk in the palm of my hand, add a couple of droplets of water and work into a paste, however thick or thin you would like. I prefer to use a thicker consistency, so I don't use a lot of water. You then work the paste into your skin, you should be able to feel the exfoliating properties going to work. I rub LTGTR into my skin for a good couple of minutes, ensuring I work it in a little extra where I have any blemishes or dry parts and then wash off with warm water. LTGTR leaves your skin feeling smooth, cleansed and fresh.
Pictured - Ma Bar bubble bar
I know that Ma Bar isn't the most exciting bubble bar, you don't get gorgeous colour waters and they are definitely not Instagram worthy, but what you will get is gorgeous silky waters that smell incredible. Ma Bar shares it's scent with the Honey I Washed the Kids family, but Ma Bar has a stronger honey element. I love using Ma Bar with Shoot for the Stars bath bomb, doubling up on that gorgeous scent and the murky brown water is gone as soon as the bomb hits the water. This was one of the products that I was deeply disappointed I would probably never see again when the LUSH Kitchen closed and I am hoping that we may see it in stores again one day, maybe as part of the Easter collection. If this ever does come back again, I'll be majorly stocking up! I only have one bar left and I point blank refuse to use it until I have another in it's place! My lonely Ma Bar is in my 'rare and exclusive - do not use' box along with another few products.
Pictured - Rub Rub Rub shower scrub
LUSH have been going in on scrubs lately! With the release of Magic Crystals and Scrub Scrub Scrub coming to stores, I feel like Rub Rub Rub may have taken a back seat for some people, but it's still my favourite of the trio. The Sakura scent is beautiful in this format, the mimosa definitely comes through as the strongest ingredient and smells so fresh and clean. I love to use this product when shaving, Rub Rub Rub leaves my skin feeling so silky soft! It can sting a little if you nick yourself, due to the fine sea salt, and I've learnt that the hard way! I've also tried washing my hair with this, but I wasn't impressed with the way my hair felt afterwards, so I personally wouldn't recommend it, but I know a lot of people love it. I also prefer the potted version to the solid, the solid is super scratchy whereas the potted version is the perfect scrub! If I feel like I need a really good exfoliation, I use this before I get into the shower or bath, on dry skin. This really helps the sea salt to scrub away at the dead skin and I have found this the best way to use Rub Rub Rub, but most of the time I just use it when my skin is already damp. I have found that Rub Rub Rub is one of the best scrubs for removing those little bumps people get on the back of their arms, one shower with this and you're sorted!
There are definitely some amazing products that I love and adore that only just, by a fraction, got the cut! I'd also say that my top 10 changes often too, around Christmas I reach for other products more and I prefer different scents in the Summer!
