♥ What To Buy From LUSH

February 11, 2017

I think that to anybody who is new to LUSH or who is intrigued by the products. it can be a bit overwhelming. There are so many different scents and so many products that you didn't even know existed. And I think I can say quite honestly, that I have used a lot of LUSH products. A lot. I have been buying LUSH since I was a small child, but my 'addiction' started in 2013 ish. I thought I would write a blog post for the newbies, for anybody who is just getting into LUSH and would like any help on selecting products and what I think is the best way to use them.

Pictured: American Cream hair conditioner
If you like sweet scents, then this one is for you. American Cream has a strawberry milkshake scent, which can also be found in a few other products that LUSH have to offer. This hair conditioner is my holy grail. I used to use Aussie hair shampoo and conditioner before I converted 100% to LUSH and went cruelty free and this is just as good, if not better. After using my favourite shampoo bar (or Snow Fairy) to wash my hair, I lather American Cream on the ends of my hair and massage up to my scalp. I focus more on the ends as for me, they need the extra care a little more. This conditioner is for all hair types. I have quite dry ends and oily roots, and I think this conditioner works wonders for me. It leaves my hair super soft, like I've had it washed at a salon and you can smell the scent until you wash it again. It can be quite an expensive product to add into your routine, but it's so worth it!

Pictured: The Comforter bubble bar
Bubble bars are probably my most hoarded item from LUSH, aside from shower gels. These last forever. A bath bomb can age quite quickly and turn to mush when you drop it in the water, but I have used bubble bars that have been two to three years old and they work just as good as they would the day they were bought. The Comforter is one of my favourite scents that LUSH offer, (I'm probably going to say this a lot throughout this blog post) as I love the berry scent. The Comforter may seem a bit steep in price, but the size of this bar is huge. For £4.95 you can easily get six baths out of it. As I use The Comforter a lot, I break my bars up using a butter knife to turn it into a soft powder and store it in a glass jar, and then stick a couple of scoops into a sieve and pop under running water. I find this way you don't waste any of your bubble bar. You don't get lumps sat at the bottom of your bath that haven't dissolved. Fro any new Lushie, I would recommend The Comforter as the scent is lovely, you get plenty of product for your money and you can grab a few products in this scent if you like it.

Pictured: Let the Good Times Roll solid facial cleanser
Since I first bought this product, I have fallen in love with LUSH solid cleansers. I have dabbled with the other original line cleansers, Dark Angels and Angels on Bare Skin but none do the job quite like LTGTR. LTGTR smells so good I could eat it. I also like that it isn't chunky, I really like the Buche de Noel solid facial cleanser that comes out at Christmas, but I can't use it whilst I'm in the bath as it's too chunky and gets stuck in my hair, just ew. LTGTR may have chunks of popcorn, but they can easily be removed. I believe that this facial cleanser is for all skin types. I love how it leaves my skin feeling silky soft and so clean. This is one of the only products that if I don't have a tub in my collection, I feel like I really am missing something. I hope the day never ever comes that LUSH discontinue this product as I love it so much!

Pictured: Intergalactic bath bomb
When this bath bomb came to LUSH Oxford Street in 2015, I was dying to get my hands on it. The colours, the scent, just everything about this bath bomb sounded perfect to me. I was so happy when LUSH announced that Intergalactic was coming to all stores. The scent is minty and LUSH does mint well! The colours are amazing, a base of blue with specks of neon pink and yellow. This is definitely the bath bomb for anybody who is new to LUSH. The other original line bombs are great, but none put on a show quite like Intergalactic does. I love pairing this with the Dirty Springwash shower gel, which I am nearly out of, so I shall have to purchase myself a 250g bottle. The combination of the minty scents is amazing, especially in the summer months when you need something to cool you down. I don't think I've met a single Lushie who doesn't enjoy Intergalactic and I imagine quite a lot of people would recommend it.

Pictured: Seanik shampoo bar
I haven't used a Seanik in a long time as I decided to branch out and try some of the other shampoo bars that LUSH has to offer (I'm currently using Montalbano) but this will forever be my favourite. Seanik has that summer beach scent to it, very fresh and clean. This shampoo bar contains seaweed, which gives your hair shine and volume. I have had umpteen bars of this and I will probably have hundreds more. Shampoo bars last forever! You can get over 50 washes out of one bar and for £5.95 for one bar which gives you 50 washes, I think it's a bargain. When you work out how many washes you get out of a bottle of shampoo, you'll get many more washes out of the bar than you would out of a standard shampoo bottle. These are also what LUSH call their 'Naked' products, as they don't require any wrapping. LUSH do sell metal tins that you can store your shampoo bars in, and if you wish to purchase a tin, don't go for the small circular tin that the bar just squeezes into, go for the square tin. I once purchased a Seanik and grabbed a circular tin for it, and getting it out of the tin after I'd used it was a bloody work out! With the square tin, you have plenty of room around it to prize it out of the tin. I let my shampoo bars air dry as I found with this bar especially, that it kind of started to smell when it was stored away in a tin.

Pictured: Refresher shower jelly
Probably one of my favourite types of products that LUSH sells is shower jelly. It's like no other product that you have tried before. The original line shower jellies aren't some of my faves, but Refresher is an exception. The gorgeous sicilian lemon scent really does come out in this jelly. It smells like freshly cut lemons and a little bit of sherbet. This product really does live up to it's name, as when used in the morning it really will refresh you for the day. This jelly, like all, are multi purpose and can be used for washing yourself, washing your hair and creating plenty of bubbles for your bath. I like to use Refresher with other products to create plenty of lemony scented bubbles. I leaves the water feeling silky soft and there's no need to moisturise when you get out. I'd recommend this jelly over the other two that are in the original line, Needles and Pine and 93,000 Miles as this has more of a 'generic' scent, whereas the other two have to be for quite an acquired taste (I don't really like either to be honest, bring back Sweetie Pie!)  You can read about all the shower jellies I own in a previous blog post here, although it should probably be updated!

Pictured: D'Fluff shaving cream
I first purchased this item when I was visiting Dublin with Reece back in 2015 for his 18th birthday. I've only had a couple of tubs since then, but everytime I grab another tub I remember why I like it so much. D'Fluff has a very LUSH strawberry scent, which doesn't actually smell like strawberries. It has a bit of a floral scent to it, which normally I would steer clear of, but I actually really like this. This is the only shaving cream that I have used from LUSH which I actually like. When you rub it on your skin it turns foamy, in oppose to Prince which is more of a cream and just clogs your razor. I also find that with using this product, I don't nick myself as much and I don't get razor burn (I'm not very good at being a woman.) This leaves your skin feeling silky soft and I've also found that it helps to reduce redness from my pores.

Pictured: Rub Rub Rub body scrub
I love love love the scent of this product. Rub Rub Rub shares the same scent as the Sakura bath bomb. It smells fresh and clean, no floral or sweet overpowering scents, just clean. It really is lovely. You can purchase this item in either a black pot, where the consistency is a thick liquid packed full of sea salt or you can purchase a solid block. I prefer the version in a tub, I find that the block scratches my skin. So not only is the smell really nice, Rub Rub Rub does it's job well. It really does exfoliate your skin well, leaving the bumps on the back of your arms to never be seen again and your elbows and knees looking brand new. I really couldn't recommend this product enough, especially the older version that comes in a tub.

Pictured: It's Raining Men shower gel
I wasn't really interested in this shower gel until I found out what the scent was. This is a new love for me, as I only purchased my first bottle in October 2016. I really love a scent called Honey I Washed the Kids, which can be bought in a soap format, at Christmas in a bath bomb format called Shoot for the Stars and the LUSH Kitchen have also graced us with a shower jelly and solid and liquid perfumes that carry HIWTK. I wish I'd given this shower gel a chance a long time ago because I really do love it so bloody much. I use it to wash myself and wash my hair and the scent stays with you for hours and hours after your bath. HIWTK is one of LUSH's most loved scents and has been around for a while. I would recommend this shower gel to any new Lushie as this will definitely open up doors to new scents for you.

If I was you, I'd run to my local LUSH, grab every product mentioned above and have a really nice and long relaxing bath. You will not regret it! Don't be hesitant to ask for help in-store either, LUSH employees are probably the nicest you will ever find and will be more than willing to answer any queries that you have or point you in the right direction of products that you're looking for.
