♥ August Favourites!
September 02, 2018
It has been a while since I have done a favourites blog post and I really like writing these kinds of posts, they are good to look back on and see things I was enjoying using that I maybe don't use so much anymore. August has been a long month, it's been a stressful month at work and I also feel like I've barely been at home these last few weeks as I have been (kind of) looking after my cousin whilst his parents were on holiday. It's nice to have a weekend to myself where I know I don't have to leave the house and I can just relax!
I have been falling in love with many new things this month, it was quite hard to whittle them down!
Pictured - Shopping trip in Edinburgh
Reece came to visit me at the end of July, into the beginning of August. We went to Edinburgh for the day and I definitely spent far too much money! I always visit the Levis store when I am in Edinburgh as we don't have a store in Carlisle and it's not very often that I get the chance to shop in a store and I don't really like buying clothes online. I picked up two t-shirts, my favourite kind of Levis! I always go in with a couple picked out in my head and end up walking out with something completely different! I also visited Pandora as I knew that they had a sale on and I had spied some Disney charms that were reduced. Again, I didn't leave with that I planned! I really wanted the Let It Go charm as it was only £15 and I ended up picking up the Pearlescent Mickey too as it was also in the sale and was far to pretty to not purchase! We went to the Vans store and I picked up a new pair of authentics as I only have my Disney ones now and I don't want to wear them till they fall to pieces as they are limited edition. I went back to the very first pair of Vans I ever owned and went with the cherry red. These have barely been off my feet since I bought them. We also went to Tommy Hilfiger and I picked up two new sweatshirts as I don't own any and I know I will live in these throughout autumn and winter. I got sizes that would be oversized on me and they're so comfy and I just wear them all the time. I also picked up a pair of Converse from USC as these were in the same, for only £23 and I thought they were really nice. I definitely spent too much money in Edinburgh, but I don't mind too much as I really love everything I got.
Pictured -Magic Crystals shower scrub
I went to my local on the day that Magic Crystals was released because I knew I needed a pot of this as soon as possible! I am in love! I really love Rub Rub Rub and I don't think I would love another LUSH scrub as much, but this is a close second. Magic Crystals is perfect for the summer weather, it's Christingle in scrub version in terms of the tingle it gives your skin and the cooling effect it leaves after you leave the bath. It also gives you a really good exfoliation, which is obviously the point of this product. There has been many comments on the scent of Magic Crystals, but I think it smells a lot like Mask of Magnaminty, it's super minty with the tiniest hint of a herbal note. I wish this smelt like Magic and it would have made sense if LUSH did that, I'm surprised that they didn't. I also wish that they had released this a little earlier than they did, this summer has been insane and Magic Crystals would have been the perfect product to cool us all down.
Pictured - The Rose and Thistle Wax Patisserie
I had heard so many brilliant things from my friends about the wax from
Rose and Thistle that I just had to try them out myself. I picked up some soy pots, which are only £1 each which I think is a total bargain and a 4oz pot of one scent because I knew I would love it. I picked up:
Maple Nog (a dupe of the Yog Nog scent from LUSH)
Tea Party Madness (a scent of cookies, cakes, scones and jam)
Blue Raspberry (a blue raspberry slushie scent)
Freshly Baked Bread (exactly what the name says!)
Honey Wash (a dupe of HIWTK from LUSH)

I have already burnt a sample that I got, Comfort Blanket which smells like The Comforter from LUSH and I can currently burning my favourite, Freshly Baked Bread. I have been so pleased with what I have tried so far that I have already opened a drop box with Rose and Thistle to order some more. A drop box is the option to purchase some wax whilst it is in stock and pause postage whilst you make further orders, to post at once. This means you only have to pay postage once. I think this is a brilliant idea! It means you can buy one or two bits when they come in stock and just keep adding to your box. If you haven't tried Rose and Thistle wax, I would strongly recommend you do. It's brought me back to burning which I haven't done in forever. The scents are amazing, the wax burns nicely and lasts for a good amount of time and the pricing is brilliant! You can also use my friends code for 15% off, visit @heather_loves_baths on Instagram to see what her code is! I can't wait to try some of the autumn scents, so watch out for a blog post all about my next order!
Pictured - LUSH Creative Showcase
We're at that time of the year where we are so close to the Showcase and I am getting so excited! This year feels so different from last year. Last year I attended with my boyfriend and we made a break of it and spent a few days in London. I think there was so much going on it was hard to concentrate and I was also really looking forward to going to the Harry Potter Studio Tours. This year is completely different! Obviously it's in Manchester this year so it's not as far away, but I'm still making a weekend of it. I am travelling down with my friend Beth (@mermazingbaths) and we are meeting up with some of out other friends, Jess (@snapsoflush), Heather (@heather_loves_baths), Liz (@lizziejane1972), Liz (@bathwhatsit) and Léo (@lushastic). We're also meeting up with our friend from across the pond Tiffanny (@tiffersdenny) and her husband! We've rented an airBnB for the seven of us for the night and I'm so excited to see everybody and have a night with a take away and gossip, then we're all off to the showcase the next day! As much as I am super excited to go to the Showcase, see, buy and make all the products, I'm also looking forward to getting away from Carlisle and seeing my friends for the weekend. Only 21 days to go!
I'm so pleased that August is over and done with and September is finally here! Roll on Autumn, the seasonal LUSH releases, the Showcase and the countdown to Christmas!
