♥ Books You Must Read!
March 19, 2017
It goes without saying that this book is great. If you have seen the film, I highly suggest you still read the book as it is slightly different. I remember reading this in one night and going into school the next day and being stopped by my English teacher to ask if I was okay as I had massive bags under my eyes. He was surprised when I told him I had spent most of the night crying because of a book I had read. Weirdly, I think he appreciated my emotion for literature. As you can see from the photograph, my copy has been well loved. The pages have been read many times and will continue to be until the book falls to pieces! The Notebook is a story that follows Noah and Allie in the late 1940's. Allie is from an upper class family as her father is a very respectable business man. Noah is the complete opposite, a working class guy with no fancy house or car. Noah and Allie fall in love and have the ultimate summer romance until they are ripped apart when Allies parents disapprove of the relationship and they whisk her away back home. I'm not going to say much more as this would ruin the book for you, but if you enjoy a good tear jerker then this book is perfect for you. Nicholas Sparks is probably my favourite author and I have never been disappointed in a book of his that I have read. If you enjoyed this book I would highly recommend reading his other novels as they are just as good!
I bought this book a few years ago and it sat on my bookcase for a while before I delved into it. I tend to do this, bulk buy books and then read them a long time later. I can't help but buy a few when Waterstones has a buy one get one half price offer! Eleanor & Park tells the story of the new girl in town and how she falls in love with the quiet boy who likes to be invisible. This story is a perfect depiction of teenage love, the passion and lust you have for the first person that you fall in love with but also the pain of that first heartbreak. Eleanor & Park is definitely a book that will tug on your heart strings and take you back to being 13 and in love.
I have spoke about Zoe Sugg so many times on my blog, I probably couldn't promote her any more! From her YouTube videos to her beauty range, everything that Zoe or Zoella as she is more commonly known as, I am a huge fan of. Her books are no exception to that. The Girl Online trilogy, (I'm not sure if Zoe is releasing another book, but please?) follows a teenage girl living in Brighton who is called Penny. Penny has an online blog which she is anonymous. She uses her blog to reach out to people all over the world, to discuss her anxiety and chat to the people she has met online. Penny's life changes forever when her parents take her to New York on a business trip and she meets Noah, a guitar strumming American who turns out to be ever so slightly famous. Penny is thrust into the limelight and as she suffers from serious anxiety, you can imagine that this is a hard situation for her. The three books follow Penny through her life and all the problems that are thrown at her, how she deals with her anxiety and her relationship with Noah. I found when reading this book that there are a lot of similarities with Girl Online and Zoe's actual life. I would really recommend these books to any teenager or young adult, the story line with grab you and pull you in many ways. The books are really well written and I love to support YouTubers on their adventures outside of YouTube.
I bought this book as an e-book on my Kindle back when I had heard the film was coming out. Not going to lie, the reason I purchased this book was because I knew Emma Watson had been cast and I knew she wouldn't act in a film that wasn't going to be good. Initially, I was about three quarters through the book and thought 'this is the worst book I have ever read.' I thought the story line was going nowhere and was quite hard to follow. By the last chapter I had decided that this was possibly the best book I had ever read. The Perks of Being a Wallflower follows Charlie in his freshman year where he befriends a group of people who are nothing like him. Charlie is a socially awkward and shy wallflower, who has a deep secret that he has pushed way to the back of his head. The book follows Charlie on his way to realising the issue and coming out of his comfortable shell. The Perks of Being a Wallflower is definitely a tear trigger and I still agree that this is one of the best books I have ever read. I need Stephen Chbosky to release more content, I need more books written by this amazing author!
I have found that John Green is one of them authors where I either love his books, like Looking for Alaska and Paper Towns or I really just can't get into them, like Will Grayson, Will Grayson and The Abundance of Katherine. This book was so intriguing that I finished it in one sitting. I read it while I eat my tea, I read it while I peed and I sat awake until about 2am despite the fast I was at Sixth Form the next day because I needed to know what happened in the end. I love books that captivate you so much you literally can't put the book down! Looking for Alaska follows Miles on his first year at college where he both finds and looses love in Alaska. I am not going to say anymore than that as it will completely ruin the story line. You need to read this book. You really need to read this book!
Reading is a very important part of my life, I need an outlet that I can escape to and I find that books are the best way for me to do that. I can get so captivated in a book that it removes me from reality and I can truly relax. If you have any suggestions of books that you think I would enjoy, please comment down below and let me know as I am always open to new book ideas!
